Bringing the Google AI Educator Series to Malaysia
At Bett Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Google launched the Google AI Educator Series (GES) in Malaysia: a free-of-charge, standards-aligned, AI literacy training designed to place educators firmly in the lead of the digital era.
Access to technology is only the starting point - true transformation happens when educators have the skills to make it their own. Across Malaysia, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) have already demonstrated forward-looking leadership by enabling Gemini for Education for millions of students and educators across K-12 schools and public universities. Malaysian educators are also demonstrating inspiring enthusiasm for AI literacy, as the country leads the world in Gemini Certified Educators, with more than 200,000 teachers certified across the country.
Empowering Educators to Lead
The Google AI Educator Series (GES) offers self-paced training tailored for K-12 educators and higher education faculty members. Designed to meet educators where they are, the program offers bite-sized, 15- to 45-minute sessions that fit easily into busy schedules, enabling educators to learn at their own pace and immediately apply new skills in the classroom such as how to create a lesson plan and supporting materials, draft parent communication, and leverage vibe coding to build interactive simulations and assignments.
This national launch supports Malaysia's vision to build a future-ready educational system and aligns with Malaysia’s broader AI Nation 2030 vision.
Educator Spotlight: How Cikgu Amirul Turned a Small School into an Innovation Hub
In a small primary school in Negeri Sembilan, Cikgu Amirul Faisal bin Azman, an ICT teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Titian Bintangor, experienced firsthand how practical AI training can transform a school culture.
By focusing on practical, classroom-ready applications rather than theoretical concepts, GES gave Cikgu Amirul the confidence to rethink his daily teaching routines and reclaim hours from lesson planning. That practical fluency quickly sparked a culture of innovation across SK Titian Bintangor.
Today, all teachers at the school have joined GES, and went even further to take Gemini Certification
At the same time, they have encouraged the use of AI in classrooms with students using Gemini to help them create digital storybooks and design interactive learning games.
Fostering Deep Reasoning and Foundational Literacy
We’re also sharing new features to support deeper learning outcomes across all age groups, and specialised tools directly into daily learning routines:
- Expanding Guided Learning in Google Classroom: Guided Learning is coming to Google Classroom in the coming months. This integration allows educators to select their own class materials and provide students with step-by-step instructions tailored to their lesson content to aid in their learning. Educators can also get real-time progress and insights to easily identify and address students’ understanding.
- Read Along: Read Along in Google Classroom – a digital reading tutor – is now accessible to all Google Workspace for Education users at no extra cost. We’re also expanding our library with over 60 native and translated Malay titles, complete with interactive comprehension questions. Plus, with reading assignments launching on Read Along mobile app this month, students can practice independently at home on a smartphone—guided by real-time pronunciation support from an AI reading companion—while teachers gain actionable fluency insights directly in Classroom. All Malaysian teachers and students who have a DELIMa account can start to access this.
