New Chromebook Plus AI features to help you get more done

We’re announcing some new software features that use Google AI to help you get more done. Rolling out in Australia from today, all Chromebooks will come with Gemini, and Chromebook Plus laptops will also come with new Google AI features including Help Me Read, Live Translate and more.

In addition to the recent launch of the Help Me Write feature and the ability to chat with Gemini, Chromebook Plus laptops will have even more features to make everyday tasks easier. The following AI features will become available through automatic updates over the coming weeks.

• Accelerate understanding with Help me read. Help me read helps you summarise PDFs, articles or websites, all with a right click. You can even ask follow-up questions to dive deeper. Starting next year you can even highlight specific sentences or paragraphs you need extra help clarifying.
• Overcome language barriers with Live Translate. Use Live Translate to enable Google AI-translated captions on whatever is on your screen, whether it’s a meeting on Zoom, a YouTube livestream or a video file a family member sends you. Live Translate can instantly translate content into over 100 languages.
• Easily capture audio, thoughts and notes with Recorder app. Use the Google AI-powered Recorder app to create transcriptions that can detect and label speakers, and provide a summary of recorded content.
• Be seen and heard authentically with new video call features. New studio-style mic and built-in appearance enhancements make your video calls even better. The studio-style mic feature helps you sound crystal clear with AI-based high-quality mic simulation that also reduces noise and room reverberation. The built-in appearance effects automatically adjust lighting, brightness, and more to help you look your best. Best of all, these features can work across any video calling app.

New on all Chromebooks

We’re also bringing new features to all Chromebooks in Australia. These tools will give you a productivity boost every time you power on so you can get things done without slowing down.

• Chat with Gemini, now available on all Chromebooks. No need to open your browser to chat with Gemini — it’s a click away and conveniently pinned to the shelf of every Chromebook. Get help planning trips, generating unique images and learning more about what sparks your curiosity, all from your homescreen.
• Google One AI Premium plan at no cost for three months. Try Google’s most capable AI tools through the Google One AI Premium plan at no cost for three months, if you buy a new Chromebook. The plan includes access to Gemini Advanced, 2TB of storage and Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail and more. You can also get access to 12 months of the Google One AI Premium plan with a new Chromebook Plus purchase. (1)
• Welcome Recap helps you pick up where you left off. Whenever you log into your Chromebook, Welcome Recap gives a visual overview of where you last were across any device and helpful suggestions to get you started. You might get a reminder to join your next video call, quick access to a recently opened file, or a clickable suggestion to finish an article started on your Android or iOS phone.
• Focus helps you stay distraction free. Whether you have dedicated focus time or a specific Google Task you want to finish, choose a time period and soundscape or YouTube Music playlist 5, then Focus can automatically turn on “Do not Disturb” for a distraction-free experience.
• Pin important files to your home screen for easier file-finding. Access files in a click, whether you're online or offline, by pinning them to your Chromebook’s shelf. To save even more time, Launcher even suggests the Google Docs or Slides you may be looking for.
