These Super Bowl LIX Ads Scored Big on YouTube

Booking.com top ad 2025

This year, Super Bowl LIX delivered an incredible show, with the Eagles and Chiefs giving fans everything they could ask for on the football field, and YouTube helping fans (of all stripes) take in both the game, and all of the incredible culture that surrounds football’s biggest event.

As viewership of events like the Super Bowl fragments across TV, streaming, and digital video, YouTube is the go-to platform for Canadians to discover, relive, and discuss the night’s biggest moments. From pre-game analysis, to behind-the-scenes action, to game-day recipes and more, YouTube provided football fans with near-infinite ways to immerse themselves in the big game. But, the Super Bowl isn’t only for football fans - so, whether you’re tuning in to spot celebrity cameos or to sing along to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” (which charted #4 on YouTube in Canada for 2024), YouTube had you covered.

And of course, what is the Super Bowl, without everyone’s favourite discussion topic - the ads? Canadians flocked to the platform to watch, and rewatch their favourite brand spots, which expertly tapped into nostalgia, humor, and authentic storytelling.

Here are some of the key themes we saw in this year's Super Bowl ads line-up on YouTube:

Iconic Throwbacks: Booking.com dominated with a Muppets reunion featuring Kermit and Miss Piggy. Ram's "Goldilocks" reimagined the classic tale with Glen Powell as Goldilocks and three "trucks." Hellmann's brought back Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in a "When Harry Met Sally" inspired deli scene, capped off by Sydney Sweeney. Häagen-Dazs reunited Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez in a "Fast & Furious" moment, much to Ludacris's humorous dismay.

Finding Creative Inspiration in Everyday Truths: Google's heartwarming ad showed a dad using Gemini AI to prepare for an interview, highlighting how everyday parenting skills translate to professional success. DoorDash's "DashPass Math" starred Nate Bargatze, humorously exploring the concept of "girl math." Coors Light cleverly tapped into the universal "case of the Mondays" feeling, especially post-Super Bowl, with limited-edition "Mondays Light" packaging.

The power of community: Doritos revived its "Crash the Super Bowl" contest, empowering fans to create their own ads, while Yahoo offered an interactive experience, where Bill Murray shared his email with viewers, and they could follow up directly with the star to hear more of his story.
