Making high-quality medical advice more accessible for Arabic speakers with YouTube Health
When we have a health question concerning ourselves or a loved one, we often turn to the internet first. In fact, more and more people are turning to video to find digestible information on health.
At YouTube, we believe that access to high-quality information should be a right, not a privilege. That is why we are thrilled to announce the launch of YouTube Health in Arabic, a new initiative dedicated to connecting Arabic-speaking viewers with high-quality, reliable, medically vetted content.
We know that navigating health information can be overwhelming. We want to ensure that when you search for answers, you find content that is not only easy to understand but also credible and accurate. We're not trying to replace your doctor. We're trying to empower you with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your health by working with experts in the medical field, including Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi who are creating dedicated Arabic content to ensure that the information you find is relevant, culturally attuned, and medically sound.
So what will this look like on YouTube?
- Health Content Shelves: Searching for a wide number of health topics like "diabetes" or "breast cancer" will now trigger a dedicated shelf at the top of your results. This space exclusively showcases videos from accredited health organizations and government entities.
- Health Source Information Panels: To give you extra peace of mind, we are introducing panels that provide context on the source of the video, verifying that it comes from a credible, third-party health partner.
This launch is just the beginning of our journey to making it easier to find high quality health information in the region. We are taking a phased approach, starting in the UAE, with plans to bring more regional partners and experts on board in the future.
We are excited to play our part to help health authorities and licensed medical professionals reach more people through YouTube.
