Waze rolls out new customization features and more Gemini updates
Waze is powered by a passionate community of people who help each other outsmart traffic. Because no two trips are alike, we’re adding new ways to customize your ride so you have even more control over your journey. We’re also evolving Waze from a helpful companion into an intelligent partner with new Gemini capabilities.
Stay safer with motorcycle mode 🏍️
Motorcycles need different routes than cars; they can access narrower streets and are more sensitive to road surfaces. Our new motorcycle mode uses AI to incorporate two-wheeler shortcuts and restrictions, helping you find the best route and get an accurate ETA. It also shows hazards that are tricky for riders, like potholes, speed bumps, raised crosswalks, shoulder endings and narrow bridges. All of this is powered by Waze’s real-time traffic information and a dedicated group of motorcycle map editors who are constantly adding new hazards to the map. Motorcycle mode is rolling out now in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines on Android and iOS, with more countries on the way.
Get personalized navigation👌
Everyone has navigation preferences. Now, Waze will suggest routes based on your previous trips, in addition to its hyperlocal understanding of a city’s traffic patterns. So if you prefer driving on highways over local streets with multiple stops, you’ll see those suggested first. Don’t want personalized routes? It’s easy to choose alternate routes or turn off personalization altogether in your settings. Personalized navigation is rolling out now globally on Android and iOS.
Focus on music and podcasts with “less chatty” mode 🎵
Sometimes, you may want fewer interruptions on your drive so you can focus on music or a podcast. When you choose to enable less chatty mode, Waze minimizes the number of voice prompts and keeps them short. You'll still get critical reminders about hazards, turns and lane changes, but you’ll get them less frequently so you can concentrate on your audio. Less chatty mode is rolling out now globally on Android and iOS.
Report road updates conversationally 🗨️
Conversational Reporting already uses Gemini capabilities to help you report traffic incidents like slowdowns, just by talking naturally. Now you can also use Conversational Reporting to suggest map updates — like a road closure or outdated address — to keep Waze up to date for everyone. Just say, “The road is closed here" and Waze will send these details to local map editors, who verify the suggestion and update the map. Reporting road updates conversationally is rolling out now globally on Android and iOS.
Find your destination with a quick chat 🔎
Sometimes you know what you need, but not exactly where to go. Now you can use Gemini capabilities to help you find your destination. Before navigating somewhere, tap the search voice icon to ask questions like “Find me a coffee shop that’s open right now,” “Find me parking close to Grand Mall” or even “Find me a gas station nearby with the lowest prices.” Waze will respond with a list of options, and you can quickly start navigating using your voice. Finding your destination with Gemini capabilities is rolling out now to the Waze beta community globally on Android and iOS.
From customizing your ride to using Gemini capabilities to update the map, we're giving you more ways to make your trip your own.
