Applications Now Open: 100,000 Google Career Certificate Scholarships in Ghana
Every day across Ghana, young people are building the future. Whether it is a developer in Accra coding a new agricultural tech solution or a small business owner in Kumasi moving their storefront online, the drive to innovate is palpable. Ghanaians are actively shaping the digital economy and seeking the practical skills to scale their ideas even further.
Last year, at the opening of our AI Community Center in Accra, we pledged to support this growing talent pool by offering 100,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships. We are thrilled to officially announce the opening of the first wave of this program.
These scholarships provide access to flexible online training programs designed by Google experts to help individuals become job-ready in high-growth fields in under six months. We want to ensure that Ghanaian youth are equipped with the hands-on skills required to take full advantage of global opportunities and build successful, long-term careers in the tech industry.
Practical Skills for High-Growth Careers
The Google Career Certificates offer a flexible way to gain highly sought-after skills, requiring no prior experience. You can choose from the following specialised tracks:
- AI Essentials & Professional: A 10-hour course designed to help you use generative AI effectively in your daily work. You will learn to synthesise information and use AI as a collaborator to speed up everyday tasks.
- Data Analytics: Learn how to process and analyse data to gain key business insights. You will master tools like SQL, Tableau, and R programming to turn raw numbers into actionable stories.
- Cybersecurity: Protect organisations from digital attacks. This track covers the foundations of risk mitigation, Python, and Linux, preparing you for entry-level roles as a security analyst.
- Digital Marketing & E-commerce: Master the tools needed to reach customers online. You will gain hands-on experience with Google Ads, SEO, and social media analytics to help local businesses grow.
- IT Support: Learn the fundamentals of operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting to help organisations keep their technology running smoothly.
- Project Management: Learn the art of leading teams and delivering results. This course covers Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- UX Design: Learn the foundations of user experience design, from wireframing and prototyping to conducting user research to build better, more human-friendly digital products.
Partnering with the One Million Coders Program
These scholarships will be distributed exclusively through the One Million Coders (OMC) Program—a flagship initiative championed by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, with the ambitious goal of training one million Ghanaians in digital skills by 2030.
We are thrilled to collaborate with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) on this rollout, integrating Google’s industry-standard certifications into this national framework to support the government's mandate of digitally empowering its youth.
