Earth Day: Supporting environmental projects in Australia with Google AI
[]

While today’s global Earth Day Doodle showcases the incredible natural beauty of our world and its landscapes from above, sourced from Google Earth, we're also reflecting on our work with local partners to help protect Australia's unique ecosystems. Through our $1 billion, five-year Digital Future Initiative, we're partnering with local experts and researchers to tackle some of the country's biggest climate-related challenges using AI.

From mapping and restoring endangered giant kelp forests with CSIRO and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, to developing FireSat for early bushfire detection from space with CSIRO, and tracking marine life to protect whale populations with Griffith University, our AI technology is playing an important role. We're excited to keep working with our partners to build AI that helps protect Australia's environment. Read more about our Digital Future Initiative projects.
