- Google has renewed over 50 News Showcase agreements with news publishers in Australia, representing more than 100 publications. This includes Australian Community Media, Junkee, Yahoo, Private Media, The Conversation, Schwartz and Southern Cross Austereo.
2024
- Google and Country Press Australia have announced the renewal of its partnership. This includes renewal of News Showcase agreements with over 80 rural and regional publications.
- We've extended our agreements with some of our earliest News Showcase partners, including Solstice Media, Times News Group, The Conversation, Women's Agenda, and Independent Australia — all of which are regional and independent outlets.
2022
- Google welcomes small and regional publishers to News Showcase including Region Group, Central Coast Newspapers, and Star Observer.
2021
- The ABC announces a significant funding boost for regional journalism following agreement to join News Showcase.
- Google Australia is pleased to announce that we are welcoming four new Australian media outlets to News Showcase - AAP, SBS, Independent Australia and Women's Agenda.
- Google has signed an agreement with Yahoo Australia to join Google News Showcase.
- Country Press Australia and Google have come to an agreement that will see dozens of regional newspaper titles join Google News Showcase and receive digital transformation funding.
- Google signs agreement with Nine Entertainment Co to join News Showcase.
- We welcome independent regional media company Times News Group to Google News Showcase. The Times News Group joins with seven mastheads, bringing the total number of Australian media titles that have signed onto News Showcase to 100.
- The Guardian Australia has joined Google News Showcase, bringing the total number of Australian titles to more than 70, with well over 500 around the world.
- A new agreement with News Corp will cover 26 Australian publications for News Showcase and a range of other products.
- We’re pleased to welcome Junkee Media to Google News Showcase, an innovative digital media company covering the news that interests and impacts the lives of young Australians.

2021
We’re excited to be announcing News Showcase partnerships with publishers all around the world. So far, seven Australian publishers – representing more than 25 titles – have signed on to our licensing program including Crikey, The Conversation, The New Daily and regional newspapers from Australian Community Media. Across the world more than 450 publications are now Showcase partners, including The Financial Times, New Statesman and The Telegraph in the UK, Le Monde in France, Der Spiegel in Germany, and global news brands like Reuters.
We believe that News Showcase is the right way to make payments to publishers under the Government’s News Media Bargaining Code.
