Google I/O Connect Bengaluru 2024: Indian startups unlocking magic in the Gemini era

Google I/O Connect Bengaluru 2024

At Google I/O Connect Bengaluru 2024 earlier today, we unveiled a suite of powerful tools and initiatives aimed at empowering India’s AI innovators to realize their potential in the Gemini era. We are confident that, as they have done all along in their enthusiastic embrace of Gemini, Indian startups will bring the magic of these growing AI capabilities to life.

We have a longstanding commitment to supporting the Indian startup ecosystem along its AI journey. Our Build with AI event series has already engaged 25,000 developers in 43 cities across India, providing hands-on experience with our latest AI and machine learning technologies. The Global Gemini API Developer Competition continues to unearth groundbreaking applications that push the boundaries of AI innovation. And, the 3-month equity-free Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First is nurturing the next generation of AI-first startups with expert mentorship and support around AI/ML, UX, Android, Web, Product, Leadership and Growth; the 2024 cohort kicked off its program with an intensive bootcamp at our Bangalore office this week.

In our most recent significant step, we are working with the MeitY Startup Hub, under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to enable 10,000 Indian startups along their journey with generative AI.

We have been deeply encouraged by the incredible progress India’s startups are powering with our support. And at I/O Connect, three startups showcased the transformative impact they are enabling as they leverage Gemini in groundbreaking solutions that are addressing real-world challenges.

Miko.AI: Safeguarding Young Minds

Miko.AI, which has developed an innovative AI-powered robot dedicated to educating and engaging children, has built proprietary AI models over 10 years, prioritizing age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and regionally relevant AI interactions. To ensure this, Miko.AI employs Google's Gemini as a discerning judge and quality control mechanism for its AI models.

Gemini meticulously scrutinizes responses from Miko's proprietary text-based Large Language Models (LLMs) to ensure they meet the company's stringent standards for Miko’s young audiences. Moreover, Gemini plays a crucial role in Miko's automated quality assurance and security processes, enhancing the safety and reliability of image, audio, and conversational content by simulating various user interactions and proactively identifying potential vulnerabilities such as harmful content or misinformation.

With assistance from Gemini, Miko.AI is expanding the boundaries in AI-powered learning with a safe and responsible platform, ensuring its robots deliver engaging and safe educational experiences for children worldwide.

Our goal is to ensure Miko Robots provide safe, reliable, and culturally appropriate interactions for children worldwide, and Gemini is key to achieving this. Sneh Vaswani
