For years, we’ve leveraged technology to push the limits of what a map can be. Simultaneously, our approach in India has always been to combine the world's leading AI technologies with deep local understanding powered by our local teams, our local partners, and India's Maps user community - one of the largest in the world - comprising millions of users who contribute daily.

Just this last year, our collaborative efforts have helped us make millions of updates to the map every day in India, scale India-first features like flyover callouts and narrow road navigation nationwide, expand critical coverage such as EV and public transport with partners like Tata Power, ONDC, Namma Yatri and BEST, while surfacing around 150,000 disruption alerts daily thanks to our Maps community.

Building on this momentum, today we're launching a slate of 10 new updates for India — bringing our most advanced AI and new India-first features to make your everyday journeys more seamless, intuitive, and safer with Google Maps. This includes Google Maps getting a powerful boost with Gemini to make navigation and exploration smarter and easier. We’re also introducing safety alerts in partnership with government authorities and enhancing every way you travel with new India-first features for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and metro commuters.

We remain focused on building and innovating for the unique and diverse needs of people across India, and we’re excited for you to try them.
