Supercharging Search for India: New Languages in AI Mode & Search Live debuts

With AI Mode, our most powerful AI search, globally we’re already seeing people dive deeper into complex topics and asking questions nearly three times longer than traditional searches. The response since launching in English and Hindi across India has been incredible, with people already using it for a wide range of needs, from help with education and writing to comparing products and planning trips.
Building on this momentum, we're thrilled to announce another leap forward for Search in India, making it more intuitive, conversational, and accessible than ever before. We're expanding AI Mode to seven new Indian languages and introducing Search Live, a new conversational capability within AI Mode that uses voice and camera. India will be the first country outside the U.S. to get this experience, available in both English and Hindi. These updates are part of our deep commitment to making searching effortless for everyone, so you can truly ask anything.
AI Mode, now for more of India
To help millions more people in India ask complex questions in their preferred language, we’re rolling out AI Mode in Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. This expansion is powered by the advanced reasoning of our custom Gemini model for Search, which goes beyond simple translation allowing AI Mode to truly grasp the subtleties of local languages, ensuring the experience is genuinely helpful. AI Mode will begin rolling out in these new languages over the next week.
Introducing Search Live in AI Mode: A new way to converse with Google
People in India are power users of multimodal search, forming our largest user base for both voice and visual search globally. That's why we’re excited to bring Search Live in AI Mode to India in English and Hindi. It's a new, truly conversational way to use Google, letting you talk to Search and use your camera to get real-time help with what’s right in front of you.
The possibilities are many, whether you're troubleshooting a problem, tackling a DIY project, helping with schoolwork, or exploring a new place. For instance, if you’re trying to perfect an iced matcha at home, you can show Google your ingredients and ask, “What is a good order to combine these to make an iced matcha?” to get instant, helpful advice. Search Live is starting to roll out today in India, and will become available to more people over the coming weeks. To get started, simply open the Google app and tap the new ‘Live’ icon under the search bar, or open Lens and select ‘Live’ at the bottom of the screen.
Try these new features in Search to learn, explore, and get things done—and let us know what you think!
