Celebrating Teachers’ Day with nationwide AI training sessions to empower educators, streamline tasks, and spark creativity.

When I walked into the BA (Hons) Economics program at St. Stephen’s, I was intimidated by regressions and data models. But an exceptional professor taught me that every dataset has a ‘heartbeat’, transforming abstract data into human reality, and bridging the rigor of econometrics with the real-world imperatives of development economics. This not only sparked my love for the subject, it gave me purpose.

That kind of mentorship is irreplaceable. It takes time, empathy, and deep human connection.

As we celebrate Teachers’ Day, we honor the millions of educators across the country who dedicate their lives to shaping the next generation. We also recognize that being a teacher today is more demanding than ever.

Recently, we spent time listening to educators to understand how tech advancements are impacting their classrooms. What we heard was both inspiring and grounded in the reality of the world we live in today: teachers are optimistic about the future.

A majority told us that what they want most from AI is the ability to learn new, creative ways to unlock their teaching. They were also clear about how we can best support them in this journey: they want technology companies to focus on dedicated teacher training, ongoing skills development, and building tools that are firmly backed by learning science. Tools like Guided Learning in Gemini reflect this approach, helping to build deep understanding instead of just giving answers.

Alongside this optimism, teachers also shared a candid concern: that these new technological advancements might diminish the connection they share with their peers and students.

At Google, we believe technology should never replace the connection between a teacher and a student - it should elevate it.

And that is why, as we celebrate Teachers' Day this year, we are building on the critical input and feedback we’re hearing from teachers. This week, we are bringing educators together for wide-scale online and in-person Google AI Educator Training Sessions across the country.

Part of the Google AI Educator Series, these free, NEP 2020-aligned sessions are grounded in everyday classroom realities. The training builds a strong AI foundation - exploring how Gemini can support discipline-specific learning, streamline administrative workflows, enhance feedback and assessments, and fuel professional growth.

By helping teachers master these tools, our goal is to help them reclaim valuable hours every week so they can focus on direct, meaningful interactions with their students.

A big thank you to educators across India for your commitment, your innovation, and your unwavering dedication. We are honored to support the incredible energy and care teachers bring to their classrooms every day.
