Google Wallet comes to India with localized experiences
Android has put the power of computing into the hands of billions of people around the world, and we’re dedicated to continuously making the Android experience more connected and seamless. Be it new ways to search anything on your phone without switching apps or helping you reimagine your cherished moments, the Android ecosystem is designed to empower you to get more done. And starting today, Google Wallet will be available to Android users in India to help further streamline your life.
As services become increasingly digitized, most of us now rely on our phones for quick access to our everyday essentials. While the Google Pay app remains your destination for all things payments, Google Wallet now brings a new level of convenience to the Android experience in India.
With Google Wallet, you can now have a single, organized destination for fast, secure access to your everyday essentials – boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, public transport tickets, gift cards, and more, making them easily accessible when you need them. To start, we've partnered with over 20 of India's top brands, offering one of the widest ranges of partners for any digital wallet in India. We look forward to adding more partners soon.
Here are some ways you can better organize your life using Google Wallet:
- Save movie or event tickets: We’re partnering with PVR & INOX so Android users can add movie and event tickets to Google Wallet.
- Access boarding passes: We're partnering with airlines like Air India, Air India Express and online travel companies like MakeMyTrip, Ixigo, and Easemytrip to help travelers easily save and access their mobile boarding passes in Google Wallet. Pro tip: If you own a Pixel device, take a screenshot of your boarding pass and tap "Add to Google Wallet."
- Redeem loyalty or gift cards: We’re partnering with Flipkart (Supercoins), Dominos, Shoppers Stop, and brands supported by loyalty program enablers Pinelabs, EasyRewardz and Twid to help you store and use digital copies of your loyalty and gift cards.
- Ride public transport: We’re partnering with Hyderabad Metro, Kochi Metro, VRL Travels and Abhibus to help you purchase and store your public transport tickets.
- Use your Android phone as your corporate badge: We’re partnering with system integrators Wavelynx and Alert Enterprise to make accessing the workplace more convenient with your corporate badge now in Google Wallet.
- Digitize physical documents: You can easily create new passes in Wallet from images containing a barcode or QR code, like airline boarding passes, luggage tags and parking receipts.
- Automatically view tickets from Gmail: If you have smart personalization settings in Gmail turned on, some tickets and passes you receive in your email – for example movie tickets and train tickets – will automatically appear on your Google Wallet for a select set of partners.
Google Wallet is built with your security and privacy in mind, giving you control over what information is stored and how it's used. Download Google Wallet on your Android devices today.
