Indian developers continue to push boundaries by building innovative solutions for many complex challenges. Be it apps supporting diverse communities or global games emerging from beyond metro cities, we’re seeing inspiring local developers across the country underscore India’s rise as a powerful app development hub. At Google, we see it as a privilege to partner with this ecosystem in their growth story and are excited to collaborate with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub to bring back our Appscale Academy program.
Appscale Academy is a growth and development program to train early to mid-stage startups to build high-quality apps for the world. It was remarkable to see our first cohort adapt learnings from the program to improve their UI, UX, security, user base, engagement rates, and ratings – with 1 in 3 apps doubling their visitor and install base. Check out stories of some of our inspiring developers from the Class of 2022.
We are excited to now invite applications for Appscale Academy’s Class of 2023 and help 100 more promising Indian startups scale their growth stories. This year, we’re also dialing up our efforts to increase participation from startups beyond metro cities in India. Today, nearly 50% of startups in India come from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India. We’re strongly committed to nurturing a diverse app ecosystem by bringing more startups from these cities into the fold. For the Class of 2023, we’ll be launching a multi-city roadshow aiming to engage over 1000 startups across emerging hubs like Surat, Indore, Coimbatore, Gangtok, and Jaipur.
