Introducing Fitbit Ace LTE: the smartwatch kids and parents will both love

As parents, we want nothing more than to see our children gain independence, while also keeping them healthy and safe. And in today’s ever-changing, fast-paced world of technology and apps, that’s no easy task!

That’s why today we’re introducing Fitbit Ace LTE — a new, first-of-its-kind connected smartwatch for kids ages 7+. Ace LTE transforms exercise into play, while also giving families peace of mind with reliable calling, messaging and location sharing with parents.

Movement through play

Kids love to move, bounce, run and play. And let’s face it, they also love video games. Fitbit Ace LTE brings these two ideas together by delivering fully immersive, interactive 3D games on their wrist where the more they move, the more game time they unlock. How’s that for motivation? Each game is built specifically for the device — using haptics, sounds, the accelerometer and more — to deliver fun and engaging gameplay. So whether they’re a chicken in a bathtub racing through Space, or fishing for a Soy Sauce Snapper in “Smokey Lake”, Ace LTE keeps kids moving. Best of all, the Fitbit Arcade updates with fresh new games every few months, so there’s never a dull moment.

Ace LTE recognizes and rewards all sorts of physical activity, whether it’s playing hide and seek, jumping on the bed or having a sibling dance-off. All of this movement shows up in Fitbit’s weirdest activity ring yet — the ‘Noodle’ — that lives on the homescreen and celebrates when kids reach their daily move goals.

Built responsibly from the ground up

We worked with leading, independent experts in child psychology, public health, privacy and digital wellbeing to design Fitbit Ace LTE to be fun, safe and helpful. It’s built with privacy in mind, front and center. For example, only parents are ever shown a child’s location or activity data in their app, location data is deleted after 24 hours and activity data is deleted after a maximum of 35 days. There are no ads or third-party apps, and only contacts added by a parent can call or message the device.

The Fitbit Ace LTE uses a new movement algorithm for kids developed by the Google Research team that better and more accurately measures kids’ physical activity throughout the day, encouraging and motivating all types of movement.

A world of fun: meet the eejie!

The motivation doesn’t stop with games. Eejies are customizable creatures that feed off daily activity — the more kids reach their movement goals, the more healthy and happy their eejie gets. By completing daily activities and moving through each game, kids earn arcade tickets to customize their eejie’s look with new outfits or even deck out its home in Bit Valley, the native home of the eejie.

The Fitbit Ace LTE offers six collectable bands that are much more than just an accessory. Each band has built-in technology that unlocks different items, styles, rooms and Noodles when attached for the first time — like a mini game cartridge! For example, connect the blue Courtside band to immerse the eejie in a world of basketball, or plug in the green band to meet Wally, Bit Valley’s resident Spooky Pug who loves to cosplay. Bands are sold separately and new bands will be released regularly.

Features to bring families closer together

The Fitbit Ace LTE gives parents and guardians peace of mind. With the Fitbit Ace Pass and the new Fitbit Ace app, available for both Android and iOS,1 parents can see their child’s real-time location, call, send and receive text and voice messages, add contacts they trust, and manage settings like School Time to eliminate distractions during class. And in a couple of months, we’ll be adding Tap to Pay so kids have safe and easy access to pocket money.

Set up couldn’t be easier. Parents simply download the iOS or Android Fitbit Ace app on their compatible phone, and kids will be up and running in minutes — sometimes literally! No need to buy a SIM card, pay an activation fee or visit a carrier, we’ve included everything in one easy-to-purchase data plan — the Fitbit Ace Pass.

More Information

Fitbit Ace app works with most phones running Android 11.0 or newer or iOS 15 or newer.

Fitbit Ace LTE is designed to withstand the pressure exerted by 50 meters (5 ATM) of water. The watch is designed to comply with a water protection rating of 5 ATM under ISO standard 22810:2010 when each device leaves the factory, but it is not waterproof or dustproof. Water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions, and diminish or are lost over time due to normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly or damage. Dropping your device may result in loss of dust or water resistance. Fitbit Ace LTE is designed to be used in shallow water and should not be used for activities involving water at high velocity or high temperature. After any exposure to liquid, we recommend drying the watch and band because, as with any wearable device, it’s best for your skin if the band is clean and dry.

Maximum battery life is approximate and is based on testing conducted in California in 2023 on pre-production hardware and software, using default settings across a mix of talk, data, standby, and use of other features. Battery life depends on features enabled, usage, environment and many other factors. Use of certain features will decrease battery life. Actual battery life may be lower.

Calling, messaging, and location sharing are dependent upon network connectivity and other factors and may not be reliable for emergency communications or available in all areas.
