This design was inspired by Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, the first American astronaut to float in space. As a a young girl in the 1960s, Jacques Cousteau and the space race were inspiring to Dr. Sullivan: “How does it come to be that some people get to have have this kind of adventure in their life. I wonder if I can ever figure out how to have that in my life?”

This design is inspired by Anousheh Ansari’s description of her experience of the “overview effect,” listening to Johann Pachelbel's “Canon in D Major” as she watched thunderstorms light up Earth’s skies.
