Booking restaurants in South Africa has just got easier with AI in Search
Planning a night out, a weekend treat, or a dinner with friends just got much easier for people across South Africa.
Google is bringing new agentic capabilities to AI Mode in Search, helping those in South Africa go from planning to booking in just a few steps.
Turn your cravings into bookings
Users are turning to Google with increasingly detailed requests to find restaurants that meet their specific needs. Google Trends shows searches for “best restaurants for groups” and “when to book a table” have surged this year, as diners look for spots that can accommodate specific party sizes, dietary needs, and vibes. Starting today, AI Mode helps take the hassle out of finding and securing reservations at restaurants across the country.
Simply describe what you’re looking for with all your needs and preferences in the “Ask anything” bar. For example, you could try:
- “Find a table for two at a dog-friendly Italian restaurant in Cape Town for Saturday at 7pm.”
- “Find me a sushi spot in Sandton that has a table for four for dinner tonight.”
- “Find a Banting-friendly restaurant in Umhlanga with availability at 1pm.”
See your options in real-time
AI Mode will then search across multiple booking platforms and websites to find real-time availability for options that fit what you need. It will show you a curated list to choose from, with direct links so you can finalise your booking through trusted local and global partners like Dineplan.
With these updates, AI will handle more of the busywork, so you can spend less time planning and more time enjoying South Africa’s world-class dining scene.
