Personalized advertising secures €100 billion each year in additional sales for EU businesses, contributing €25 billion to GDP and supporting 570,000 jobs, a new economic report has found.
The study from Implement Consulting Group, commissioned by Google, examines how personalized advertising drives European competitiveness while funding diverse online services for consumers.
Key findings:
- Small businesses and start-ups earn €80 billion extra revenue annually from personalized ads.
- Publishers earn twice as much from personalized advertising compared to contextual, generating an estimated €10 billion in revenue.
- By 2030, generative AI-powered personalized ads could create €250 billion in additional sales for EU businesses, supporting 1,400,000 jobs and contributing €60 billion to European GDP.
To maintain and enhance these economic benefits, the report emphasizes the need for a simplified and streamlined policy framework that prioritizes innovation, balanced with consumer protection. It follows another recent EU survey on personalized ads and SMBs.
