Premium Google AI for more educators and students
Editor’s note: At this year’s British Educational Training and Technology (BETT) conference, we announced new AI solutions designed to help every learner and educator. Here’s a closer look at what’s new.
Making Gemini in Workspace available to more educators and students at no additional cost
Since launching Gemini in Workspace last year, we’ve heard from educators around the world that integrating generative AI into their existing tools and workflows has saved them hours of time and helped them be more creative. To bring these benefits to more educators and students, we're making select Gemini in Workspace features available in our Google Workspace for Education core editions at no additional cost:
Coming to Education Fundamentals:
- Gemini in Gmail: Quickly draft emails and summarize long threads with Help Me Write, Suggested Replies, and AI Overviews for email threads.
Coming to Education Plus and the Teaching and Learning add-on:
- Gemini in Docs: Create content in seconds with Help Me Write and Gemini in the side panel of Docs.
- Gemini in Slides: Enhance presentations with the ability to create original images and slides in the side panel of Slides.
- Gemini in Forms: Quickly create forms and see AI summaries of responses.
- Gemini in Vids: Create polished videos with a simple text prompt or from existing slides.
- Gemini in Sheets: Organize and analyze data with AI custom functions and Gemini in the side panel of Sheets.
These updates are rolling out in the coming weeks for users 18 years and older with the exception of Gemini in Gmail and Gemini in Sheets, which will be available in the coming months. We’re also building more granular controls for administrators, and soon they will be able to manage access to individual Gemini in Workspace apps. For example, if they want to enable access to Gemini in a specific Workspace app but not another one, they’ll have that control.

Providing faculty and staff with premium AI
Google AI Pro for Education continues to be our premier AI solution for educational institutions and is built to help educators, faculty and staff unleash their productivity and creativity. It provides expanded access to premium AI models and features in Gemini for Education and NotebookLM — like Deep Research and Nano Banana Pro — and deeper integrations with Gemini across your Workspace apps. While we’re making select Gemini in Workspace capabilities available to more educators and students, we expect AI Pro to provide access to the latest and greatest across our models and capabilities, including capabilities such as: last year’s 30+ improvements, popular functionality like Gemini in Meet and Drive, and priority access to new premium features coming soon, like AI inbox, Proofread, and the ability to ask your inbox questions with AI Overviews coming to Gmail.
Introducing Google Workspace Studio
Workspace Studio is the new home for designing, managing, and sharing AI agents — now included as a core service in all Google Workspace for Education editions. Harnessing the advanced reasoning of Gemini 3, Workspace Studio allows for deeply integrated automation while being simple enough for all users to build bespoke, no-code agents in minutes.
Here are just some of the ways we’ve seen educators, students and administrators use Workspace Studio:
Prepare for every meeting: Show up to every meeting or study group prepared with an agent that summarizes upcoming meeting’s details, critical deadlines, attendees and attachments and delivers the information to you via Chat.
Save attachments to Drive: Offload manual tasks with an agent that automatically saves email attachments to a Drive folder and records them in Sheets – all without leaving Gmail. Imagine an educator automatically saving signed permission slips to a secure folder while updating a class roster instantly.
Admin email triage: Save time with an agent that triages your emails to surface critical priorities, extracting actionable tasks and due dates.
These updates underscore our commitment to helping every learner and educator with the transformative power of AI. By expanding access to select Gemini in Workspace capabilities and introducing Google Workspace Studio for agent creation, we are simplifying workflows and unlocking new possibilities for teaching and learning.
