Driving just got more productive — and fun— with Gemini and more
For over a decade, we’ve been bringing people a safer, more helpful connected driving experience. We started with Android Auto as a way for your Android phone to display the most helpful apps on your car screen. This helps you navigate, communicate, enjoy entertainment and more, while staying focused on the road. We also worked with over a dozen car brands to launch next-generation cars with Google built-in, allowing drivers to enjoy the best of Google, all built right into the infotainment system (phone optional!).
Today, there are over 250 million cars that support Android Auto, and more than 50 car models with Google built-in on the road. Whichever experience you choose, we’re always bringing the latest technology to make your drive more fun and productive. And the future of driving is getting a whole lot smarter with Gemini, your AI assistant from Google, coming to your car soon.
Get more done with Gemini, hands-free
It's easier than ever to get more done simply by speaking naturally, without remembering specific phrases or pressing buttons on the screen. Sending messages to a friend who prefers another language? You can tell Gemini to remember to always send messages to Joe in Spanish. Then later, when you message Joe, rather than just transcribing verbatim what you say, Gemini can help craft the perfect message for you. You can edit that message without having to start over and then even have it translated in over 40 languages.
Hungry while on a long drive? Just ask Gemini to "find some good taco places along the way." Follow up by asking for insights from reviews, or common questions about the business. Gemini connects to Google Maps and your other apps from YouTube Music to Spotify to Calendar to find exactly what you need and help you take action — in ways you didn't think were possible before. You can even find the location of your kid's soccer game that got buried in your Gmail inbox.
Spark your inspiration with Gemini Live
Live is a conversational experience with Gemini that is a perfect fit in the car. Just say "Hey Google, let's talk" to brainstorm, explore and learn something new with Gemini. Have a crucial meeting? Prepare confidently with help from Gemini, by asking…, "I need to have a conversation with my boss about a new promotion. How do I go about this?" and even refine your strategy with "When is the best time of day to have this conversation?" You’ll get answers on the go, without taking your hands off the wheel.
Gemini will be available on cars that support Android Auto in the coming months, and cars with Google built-in later this year, including the new Lincoln Nautilus, Renault R5 and Honda Passport.
Explore more apps and helpful features for your drive
Beyond Gemini, we’re bringing even more improvements. For example, we’ve heard feedback that people want even more apps to make their drives more helpful and fun. That’s why we’ve been expanding our app catalog to include new categories like games and video, so those moments when you’re parked charging your EV or waiting for the kids can turn into entertaining downtime. And to make your phone and your car work even better together, we’ve been expanding digital car keys to more cars, including Audi, Volvo and Polestar, with more coming soon.
The future of driving will be on showcase at Google I/O next week, with demos of all of this (and more!) in cars with Android Auto and Google built-in. 1
