Learn how to use Active Noise Cancellation on the new Pixel Buds 2a.

The new Pixel Buds 2a bring pro-level Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to our A-series for the first time. Here are three simple ways to control your sound and switch between modes.

  1. Use the press and hold gesture. Press and hold either earbud to quickly switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode. You will hear a chime to confirm the change. (This gesture can also be customized in the Pixel Buds app to activate Gemini instead.)
  2. Use the Pixel Buds app. For more control, open the Pixel Buds app on your phone or desktop and go to your device details. Under "Active noise control," you can select Noise Cancellation, Transparency or turn the feature off completely.
  3. Use your phone's volume controls. You can also press your phone’s volume buttons and tap the on-screen controls to select your preferred noise control mode for quick adjustments.
