Summer has officially arrived in the U.S. That means the countdown to summer sales is on, when retailers release some of their biggest discounts of the year. It’s quickly become a major shopping season: In recent years, online searches for “deals” have spiked in mid July, even surpassing search interest in “vacation.” And 44% of shoppers say that deal days prompt them to shop more than they normally would.1

So today we’re sharing new and expanded shopping tools on Google to help you prepare for all the discounts coming your way — from finding the lowest prices across retailers, to figuring out what’s actually a good deal. Better yet, you don’t need to open 100 tabs to do it. Thanks to the 45 billion product listings in our Shopping Graph, you can shop these deals in one, convenient spot.

1. Find the latest deals

A quarter of people who regret buying something during last year’s big retailer sales say it’s because they later found the product at a lower price.1 To help make sure you don’t miss out on the latest offers from across retailers (or get buyer’s remorse), we’re introducing an updated deals destination. Now, when you search for “shop deals,” you’ll see a carousel that shows only the freshest deals from across retailers. You’ll also continue to see deals on categories you’re interested in from all types of stores: direct-to-consumer brands, big-box stores, luxury multi-brand retailers, designer labels and small boutiques.

Underneath the carousel, you’ll see promotions and markdowns that are most relevant to you across thousands of stores, organized by product categories like electronics, apparel, home, toys, beauty and pets. With just a click, you can compare prices across retailers, access product reviews, check availability and find delivery information.

2. See membership prices

Comparing prices can be a hassle, especially when you have to jump from one site to another. It’s an important step for shoppers though: Our research shows that most shoppers often compare prices before buying online.1

Now, we’re making it even easier for U.S. shoppers to see pricing across retailers with a new feature that clearly displays special membership deals. When available, you’ll start to see how much something costs regularly from retailers like BestBuy, Petco and Minted, plus the discounted cost for members of their loyalty programs — helping you make the most informed decision.

3. Get price insights

Seeing that a product is on sale can be reason enough for some people to add it to their cart. But how can you be sure you’re actually getting a great deal? 73% of shoppers say they’d be more likely to purchase something if they could see whether the product’s price is high, typical or low.1

Luckily, U.S. shoppers can find those insights right on Google. Simply click on a product to see its typical price range across retailers based on historical averages over the past 90 days, helping you determine whether something is actually a good deal and if now is a good time to buy.

4. Track prices

It feels especially satisfying to find a deal for something you’ve had your eye on. Over half of shoppers are drawn to summer sales specifically because a product they’ve been planning on purchasing for a while is finally on sale.1 U.S. shoppers can set up price alerts to find out when a particular product goes on sale. Just click the bell icon next to a product’s name to track its price. When that item’s price drops from retailers across the web, you’ll get an email or push notification alerting you.

Whether you're one of the 51% of shoppers patiently waiting for their favorite item to go on sale,1 or among the 20% getting a head start on holiday shopping,1 navigating this year’s summer deals season on Google is as easy as the summer breeze. Visit shopping.google.com/deals to start exploring.
