Gemini API and more new AI tools for developers and enterprises

In addition to the Gemini API, we’re introducing a range of generative AI tools and platforms for developers and Google Cloud customers.

Last week we introduced Gemini, our latest and most capable AI model, and explained our vision, revealed technical details and shared a roadmap of what’s to come — including immediate availability for people to try out in Bard. We also previewed what developers will be able to build with its state-of-the-art multimodal capabilities.

Today, we’re making Gemini Pro available to developers and organizations, as well as a range of other AI tools, models and infrastructure. Here’s what we’re announcing:

Gemini Pro is available via the Gemini API to developers in Google AI Studio. It’s also available to enterprises through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform.
We’re also introducing other models in Vertex AI to help developers and enterprises flexibly build and ship applications:
- An upgraded Imagen 2 text-to-image diffusion tool.
- A family of foundation models fine-tuned for the healthcare industry, MedLM, available (via allowlist) to Google Cloud customers in the U.S.
And we announced general availability of Duet AI for Developers and Duet AI in Security Operations.

Gemini API in AI Studio and Vertex AI

Developers looking to try out Gemini Pro can use the API via AI Studio, a free web-based developer tool. When they’re ready for a fully-managed AI platform, developers can easily transition their AI Studio code to Vertex AI for additional customization and Google Cloud features. Developers can get started today by visiting ai.google.dev.

Introducing Imagen 2 on Vertex AI

We’ve also updated Vertex AI with Imagen 2, our most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology from Google DeepMind to date. Imagen 2 delivers significantly improved image quality and a host of features, including the ability to generate a wide variety of creative and realistic logos — including emblems, lettermarks and abstract logos — for business, brands and products, and can deliver improved results in areas where text-to-image tools often struggle, including rendering text in multiple languages.

MedLM in Vertex AI

We’re introducing MedLM, a family of foundation models fine-tuned for the healthcare industry, generally available (via allowlist) to Google Cloud customers in the U.S. through Vertex AI — and it’ll be coming to our open Model Garden in the coming weeks. MedLM builds on the Med-PaLM 2 foundation model we introduced earlier this year, and we’ll soon add Gemini-based models into the MedLM suite to offer even more capabilities.

Duet AI for Developers

Duet AI for Developers is now generally available. This always-on collaborator from Google Cloud offers AI-powered code and chat assistance to help users build applications inside their favorite code editor and software development lifecycle tools. It also streamlines running applications on Google Cloud — and Duet AI for Developers gives enterprises built-in support around privacy, security, and compliance requirements. We will be incorporating Gemini across our Duet AI portfolio over the next few weeks.

Duet AI in Security Operations

With Duet AI in Security Operations, Google Cloud is the first major cloud provider to make generative AI generally available to defenders in a unified SecOps platform.
