As Moldova prepares for its upcoming general election, Google and YouTube are continuing our work to support a safe, informed democratic process: surfacing high-quality information, safeguarding our platforms from abuse, and equipping local campaigns with the best-in-class security tools and training.

We have long-standing policies that inform how we approach relevant areas such as manipulated media, hate and harassment, incitement to violence, and demonstrably false claims that could undermine democratic processes.

To combat foreign interference, our Threat Analysis Group (TAG) proactively tracks and tackles coordinated influence operations. On YouTube, as part of our proactive coverage for the 2025 Moldova elections, we have terminated more than 1000 channels since June 2024 for being part of coordinated influence operations targeting Moldova.

Crucially, we’re deepening local partnerships. Our workshop in August with Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission connected our policy specialists with a wide range of representatives from Moldova’s political parties and electoral competitors, offering participants the opportunity to ask direct questions and clarify practical aspects of campaigning in the online environment. And we’ve strengthened Moldova’s cyber resilience by equipping high-risk users with tools such as the Advanced Protection Program and Project Shield. We remain committed to supporting a resilient digital landscape for the Moldovan electorate.
