Last week, we announced updates to Project Astra, a research prototype for a universal AI assistant that can see, hear, and interact with people in real time. In the latest episode of the Google DeepMind podcast, Professor Hannah Fry talks to Greg Wayne, Google DeepMind’s director in research, who describes Project Astra as “like a little parrot on your shoulder that's hanging out with you and talking to you about the world.”

During their discussion, they demo Project Astra, talk about its underlying technology and discuss what’s ahead, including potential applications like language learning, helpful reminders and even fashion advice.

You can watch the full conversation below, and find out more on Project Astra’s website.
