Cardio Tennis partners with Fitbit

Australian tennis great Todd Woodbridge and Fitbit Ambassador Luke Hines teamed up at the National Tennis Centre this morning to officially launch Tennis Australia’s innovative Cardio Tennis program.
From 2016 Fitbit, the leader in connected health and fitness in Australia, will be the naming rights sponsor and official fitness tracker of Fitbit Cardio Tennis nationally as part of a multi-year partnership. Fitbit Cardio Tennis is one of Tennis Australia’s key national programs to drive participation in sport through a high energy tennis workout program that will reach thousands of people this year.
“This partnership presents many exciting opportunities for Tennis and Fitbit to grow grassroots participation in tennis and ensure more Australians focus on their own fitness,” Tennis Australia Director of Participation Sam Davy said. “We’re looking forward to introducing people to Fitbit Cardio Tennis and continuing to encourage all Australians to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle. There are more than 750 clubs around the country delivering Fitbit Cardio Tennis sessions and this number is growing each week.”
Each Fitbit Cardio Tennis session is comprised of a warm up, a cardio segment of drill-based and play-based tennis activities and a cool down. Participants exercise to music and use equipment such as agility ladders and low compression balls as part of their workout. More than 20,000 Australians regularly participate in the program.
Under the partnership, more than 160 Cardio Tennis coaches around Australia will wear Fitbit Charge HR or Fitbit Surge, showcasing the features of the market-leading activity trackers to program participants.
