Fitbit, the leader in the fast-growing Connected Health and Fitness category, launches today in Italy, and its wide-range of award-winning activity tracking devices and Wi-Fi scale are now available across the country. Additionally, its top-downloaded app and online tools are in Italian with the latest enhanced features, including MobileRun, which lets users track real-time run stats on their smartphone, using GPS to accurately track, log and compare runs, hikes and walks efficiently and easily.

Founded in 2007 in San Francisco, Fitbit designs products and experiences that track everyday health and fitness, empowering and inspiring people to lead healthier, more active lives. Understanding that there is no “one size fits all” solution in fitness tracking, Fitbit offers a variety of options within its family of award-winning activity tracking devices:Fitbit Flex wristband, Fitbit One and Fitbit Zip clips, Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale and online and mobile tools.

Fitbit products track everything from steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes, floors climbed and sleep quality – to calories consumed and other activity logging. Fitbit trackers are proven to help people move more; in fact, Fitbit users take 43% more steps with Fitbit products.

Fitbit products were the first in the market to use Bluetooth 4.0 to automatically sync with smartphones and computers, making them seamless and easy-to-use. Fitbit is proud to support the most cross-platform devices (60+) across iOS and Android , for instant access to up-to-date data and progress. Fitbit’s motivational online dashboard (www.fitbit.com/it) and app allow users to see their progress over time and challenge friends - cheer, taunt and direct message their friends who are also using Fitbit. Users with one or more friends tend to be 27% more active.

“We are delighted to be entering the Italian market and are looking forward to helping Italians live healthier, and move more, as we have done with millions of users around the world,” said James Park, CEO and Co-Founder of Fitbit. “By combining the most product choices with compatibility to the largest number of devices, people can choose the smartphone they want to use and have better success in tracking and reaching their health and fitness goals.”

Fitbit is consistently looking for ways to inspire users with new mobile and hardware products to track their progress, push their goals to the next level, and take control of their health. As such, Fitbit recently announced a new feature called MobileRun, that brings more power and convenience to its top-downloaded, free app. MobileRun uses GPS on a smartphone to accurately track, log and compare runs, walks and hikes efficiently and easily.

Fitbit is the market leader and pioneer in the Connected Health and Fitness category and its products are sold in 46 countries and 37,000 retail stores worldwide. According to the NPD Group, Fitbit sold 67% of the activity trackers last year in the United States; already this year its market share has increased to 69%. The Fitbit app is a leading app in the iTunes store and has over 1 million downloads on the Google Play Store .
