Material 3 Expressive updates and more in the latest Pixel Drop
We just launched the new Pixel 10 phones with Material 3 Expressive, a comprehensive UI update that gives you smooth interactions and glanceable, helpful information. And starting today, Material 3 Expressive is coming to Pixel 6 and newer devices as well as Pixel Tablet.
This will make your Pixel feel even more personal and premium: You can use Live effects to add fun animations to your lock screen’s wallpaper, such as adding shapes and weather effects. Enjoy a sleek redesign for your most-used Quick Settings. Plus, you can customize your Phone by Google experience for calling contacts that’s unique to your personal style.
And later this month, Adaptive Audio is coming to Pixel Buds Pro 2. This allows your buds to intelligently adjust to your surroundings, so you can stay aware while enjoying your music or podcast. And Loud Noise Protection offers added protection for your hearing.
You’ll also be able to use your buds to have clear and uninterrupted talks with Gemini when your TV is on or people are chatting around you. You can even accept an incoming call or dismiss replying to a text without using your hands — just nod or shake your head!

You can also now simply start walking or biking navigation on your phone and Google Maps will automatically display on your smartwatch — which is great if you’re somewhere new and don’t want to keep pulling your phone out to look at directions. With this update, there’s no need to tap your watch or pull out your phone — enjoy automatic, hands-free guidance from your wrist.
Updates start rolling out today and will continue over the next few weeks, depending on device and carrier. Be sure to check out the Pixel Forum post for more details and check out more new features coming to Android starting today.
