We’re helping put 25 new electric semi trucks on the road in Texas.

We’re partnering with Nevoya and the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) to deploy 25 electric semi trucks and the associated charging infrastructure on a new, all-electric route between Houston and Dallas. Google will receive the environmental benefits in the form of environmental attribute certificates (EACs). Companies purchase EACs to address logistics emissions associated with their supply chain.

The overall project, with 63 trucks in total, is the largest known deployment of class 8 battery (the largest truck classification) zero-emission trucks in Texas. The vehicles are expected to travel approximately 11 million miles annually, and are estimated to reduce 92,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (CO2e) compared to traditional diesel trucks over the length of the contracts.

By pooling our EAC procurement with other companies, we are able to send a stronger demand signal, which in turn helps to grow the market for new technologies like zero-emissions freight shipping.
