Sub-Saharan Africa is home to incredible storytelling, which fuels the game development scene in what is one of the world's fastest-growing gaming markets. But while the talent is immense, there is a significant investment gap.

To address this, we’re launching the first Google Play Indie Games Fund in Africa. We’re committing $1 million to help 10 promising local studios scale their businesses and reach a global audience.

The selected studios will each receive between $50,000 and $200,000 — plus, dedicated mentorship and hands-on technical support.

The program is open to indie developers in Sub-Saharan Africa who have launched a mobile, PC or console game. Check eligibility and apply now on the website. Applications close at noon UTC on July 31, 2026.
