What’s trending on Google this summer

To capture exactly what’s on everyone's minds (and in their Search bars), we’re introducing Summergeist: our latest report on the season's defining trends, based on U.S. Google Trends data. One key takeaway? It’s clearly the summer of “maxxing” — not only are people searching for “maxxing” more than ever before, but they’re also searching for summer trends at record highs. Grab your sunglasses, then check out more summer 2026 trends below:

• Summer tunes: It’s too soon to declare a song of the summer, but the top trending songs this past month are all from powerhouse female vocalists.

• Summer bites: Move over protein — searches for dietary fiber hit an all-time high in 2026 and “fibermaxxing” searches increased by +115% in the past 90 days.
• Summer sips: When it comes to summer wines, Sancerre and “chilled red” have both recently reached peak search interest. As a surprise to no one, spritzes spike every summer — “what goes in an aperol spritz” is a breakout search over the past month and “how to make a hugo spritz at home” spiked +2,200%.

• Summer sweets: People are searching for “black sesame” more than ever this year and are especially looking to incorporate it into their desserts this summer. Also, is froyo making a comeback? New York may be reviving the trend. U.S. searches for “Frozen yogurt nyc” are up +120% in the past 90 days.
• Summer shoes: Since 2017, search interest in slides has spiked every June and, over the past month, “jelly slides” were the top trending slide type. But flip flops are having a moment this summer, too. People are searching for “flip flops,” “square toe flip flops” and “wedge flip flops” more than ever before.

• Summer yellows: “Butter yellow nails” is at an all-time high and “yellow lens sunglasses” is the top trending search related to sunglasses lens color.
• Summerween slashers: Search interest in “summerween movies” more than doubled over the past month, and slasher is the top trending related sub-genre.
• Summer reads: “Books to read on vacation” increased by +110% over the past month, and Italy was the top trending destination people searched with it.
