Make chats more natural and efficient with Continued Conversation, now in Gemini for Home
["How can teachers and students use AI?", "What are the newest features in Chrome?", "How can I learn new AI skills?"]

Since early access launched, millions of you have opted in to help shape Gemini for Home through your daily use and feedback. Today, we’re delivering on one of your top requests: Continued Conversation is here.

Here’s how it works: After your first “Hey Google” request, Gemini provides an answer and keeps the microphone active for a few seconds — look for the pulsing lights on your device — so you can jump right back in.

This upgraded version includes four major improvements:

  • Conversational context: Unlike Google Assistant, Gemini "remembers" the conversation thread for smoother follow-ups that don’t require you to repeat yourself.
  • Multilingual support: This upgraded Continued Conversation feature is available globally across all supported languages and regions, not just U.S. English.
  • Smarter "side-talk" detection: Improved AI better distinguishes between commands and household chatter, reducing accidental responses.
  • Whole-home access: Once enabled, Continued Conversation works for everyone in the house, including guests.

To enable Continued Conversation, open the Google Home app and navigate to Home Settings > Gemini for Home voice assistant > Continued Conversation.

You can learn more about Continued Conversation and our other Gemini upgrades on the Google Home community page.
