Digital IDs are a convenient and helpful tool to help prove who you are without needing to dig through a physical wallet — and we’re continuing to expand access globally.

For these credentials to be truly useful, they need to be secure, private and effective across both physical and digital spaces. That’s why we focus on building digital IDs based on global standards with advanced privacy features like selective disclosure, where only the relevant details of a person’s ID are shared when required, ensuring everyone has a safe way to manage their identity.

Building on our UIDAI partnership, consumers in India can now save their Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials directly in Google Wallet on the device. This new capability creates a secure, digital-first ID and makes it easier to verify identity for everyday conveniences. Our initial set of partners include:

  • PVR INOX: Quickly prove your age for movies and unlock rewards.
  • BharatMatrimony: Match confidently with real people using verified 'Prime' profiles.
  • Atlys: Securely auto-fill international visa applications with a single tap.
  • Mygate: Soon, ensure delivery and service staff entering your community are securely verified.
  • Snabbit: Build trust in the gig economy with seamless checks for service providers in the near future.

Security, privacy and interoperability are at the foundation of our approach to digital identity, and are built into every layer of this integration.

We're also expanding digital ID features to more places. People in Singapore, Taiwan and Brazil are now able to create an ID pass, a secure digital ID based on their passport information, and save it in Google Wallet. This offers a simple and private way to verify identity or age for in-person and online services that require it, like when needed to sign into your accounts.
